Vidblox HTR

Overview

PESA’s Vidblox products offer transport media conversion, format conversion, and media extension solutions for production, PRO-A/V and broadcast applications. Engineered for 3G-SDI high resolution image performance, the PESA Vidblox series offers perfect pixel-for-pixel transmission of DVI-D computer video images (with a DVI-D to HDMI adapter) up to 1920X1200 – including 1080p/60.

Vidblox HTR’s are available as self-contained modules or as circuit cards for use in openGear® 3.0 frames. The self-contained HTR’s can be used on the desk top or two modules can be installed in an optional 1RU rack mount with single or dual power supplies.

Vidblox HTR

The Vidblox HTR (VHTR) module adds HDMI or DVI-D input and output signal processing capability to compliment the DVI/VGA capability offered by the Vidblox SL series transmitter and receiver products. Each VHTR module is capable of functioning in either transmit or receive mode, as selected through control software, and is fully compatible with all Vidblox SL modules in transmitter/receiver pairing applications.

Vidblox HTR-OG

Vidblox HTR-OG (VHTR-OG) modules are built on a circuit card blade footprint with a custom rear panel for use in an openGear 3.0 chassis frame. Each VHTR-OG module assembly occupies two contiguous slots in the openGear frame. Power and sync reference connections are made through the chassis frame.

Each VHTR-OG module is capable of functioning in either transmit or receive mode, as selected through control software, to transport HDMI or DVI signals over fiber, coax cable, or both with the performance characteristics of high definition digital video; based on industry standard SMPTE transports for HD/3G-SDI. Engineered for 3G-SDI high resolution image performance, the PESA Vidblox series offers perfect pixel-for-pixel transmission of DVI computer video images up to 1920X1200 – including 1080p/60.

HTR Series

Vidblox HTR

Engineered for 3G-SDI high resolution image performance, the Vidblox HTR offers perfect pixel-for-pixel transmission of DVI-D computer video images (with a DVI-D to HDMI adapter) up to 1920×1200 – including 1080p/60.

In signal extender applications, at least two VHTR modules are used as a transmitter/receiver set to provide transport of an HDMI or DVI-D signal source to a remote destination, at distances up to 10 km using fiber or 80 m with coax, over a user-defined, full SMPTE compliant SDI video transport link, with embedded audio. At the destination end, the SDI transport signal is converted back to an HDMI output signal, at a user-selectable resolution, with embedded audio.

Vidblox HTR allows scrambling of the SDI output signal from the TX module using a PESA proprietary algorithm. If the HDMI input source is HDCP encrypted, SDI scrambling is always enabled and cannot be disabled by the user. The scrambled SDI transport signal is non-viewable and can only be de-scrambled by a VHTR or VHTR-OG (openGear 3.0) module configured as a receiver device. Once recovered, the HDMI output signal from the receiver will, with full integrity, retain HDCP encryption of the originating input signal source at the TX module. With a non-HDCP-encrypted HDMI input signal, you may choose whether to apply scrambling to the SDI output signal.

Operating as a transmitter (TX) device, individual VHTR modules convert HDMI video (or DVI-D with adapter) at input resolutions up to 1080p to a source of SMPTE compliant, sync-locked, broadcast quality SDI video in resolutions up to 3Gbps. Each TX module can provide up to four individual outputs of the SDI video signal.

Operating as a receiver (RX) device, VHTR modules may be used stand-alone to convert a source of SMPTE compliant SD, HD or 3G SDI video into a high-resolution HDMI or DVI-D output, at an output resolution up to 1920×1200.

VidBlox HTR modules provide audio de-embed, mixing and embed capabilities through auxiliary, unbalanced stereo audio connections. In TX/RX applications, VHTR modules transport resolution format data over the SDI stream which enables a VHTR RX module to properly communicate specific resolutions and format data of the received signal to the destination device. Each VHTR can be controlled and configured using PESA’s Cattrax control software application through a USB connection, or up to 1024 modules can be managed or monitored over a network connection

At the destination end, the SDI transport signal is converted back to an HDMI output signal, at a user-selectable resolution, with embedded audio.

Operating as a transmitter (TX) device, individual VHTR=OG modules convert HDMI video with input resolutions up to 1080p to a source of SMPTE compliant, sync-locked, broadcast quality SDI video in resolutions up to 3Gbps. Each TX module can provide up to four individual outputs of the SDI video signal. Transmitter modules may be used stand-alone to convert an HDMI input signal (up to 1920×1200) to a SMPTE compliant SDI video output that may be used for viewing, broadcast, or distributed through a router.

Vidblox HTR-OG allows encryption of the SDI output signal from the TX module using a PESA proprietary, secure encryption algorithm. If the HDMI input source is HDCP encrypted, SDI encryption is always automatically enabled by the Vidblox TX module and can not be disabled by the user. The encrypted SDI transport signal is non-viewable, and can only be decrypted by a VHTR or VHTR-OG module configured as a receiver device. Once decrypted by a VHTR RX module, the HDMI output signal from the receiver will, with full integrity, retain HDCP encryption of the originating input signal source at the TX module. With a not HDCP-encrypted HDMI input signal, you may choose whether or not to apply encryption to the SDI output signal.

Operating as a receiver (RX) device, VHTR-OG modules may be used stand-alone to convert a source of SMPTE compliant SD, HD or 3G SDI video into a high resolution HDMI or DVI output, at an output resolution up to 1920×1200.

As a TX module, the VHTR-OG accepts unbalanced stereo audio and embeds the signal for transport over the output transport stream. Also included on the output transport video is resolution format data which, when connected to a VHTR-OG configured as an RX module, can properly communicate specific resolutions and format data of the received signal. Each VHTR-OG can be controlled and configured using PESA’s Cattrax control software application through a USB connection, or up to 1024 modules can be managed or monitored over a network connection.

Vidblox HTR modules also available in a self-contained throw-down box footprint. These modules may be used stand-alone or multiple modules mounted in a rack frame and powered by a common power supply assembly.

VHTR-OG and SL/NE modules are fully compatible with one another in transmitter/receiver pairing applications
