Web-based System Control Software

A web application that allows users to monitor and control a wide variety of PESA routers from virtually any computer with TCP/IP network or internet access to the host server.

Overview

Cattrax Web is PESA’s web application that allows users to monitor and control routers and devices from virtually any computer with internet access to the host server. The Cattrax Web application used in with MicroSoft IIS HTTP server application and provides control access using a common web browser application, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox or Google Chrome, and HTML web pages for client interface.

Intuitive Graphical User Interface (GUI) – System operation with Cattrax Web is very intuitive and user-friendly using graphical user interface (GUI) pages and menus for user input.

Access Control – Cattrax Web uses access levels to control access to certain features and devices, or even sections of devices allowing multiple users to access the same router without risk of access to sensitive content. Authorized users with administrative access can configure all aspects of application operation including users, router control and access, server functions and the creation of system operation and history logs.

Real-time switching – Cattrax Web provides authorized uses access to status display and control functions for the router or partition of the router assigned to the individual user accessing the server.

Automatic Device Discovery and Display – Automatically “discovers” PESA devices and control panels operating over the facility’s internal network or connected through a USB port of the host PC and displays located devices in a hierarchical tree structure to provide a global view of the system. The entry for a device “discovered” through the USB port is displayed in the device tree with a USB icon overlay to differentiate it from network devices.

Alarm Monitoring – Monitors alarms and events from the discovered devices, and displays them in a table format. Table columns may be sorted to make search and diagnosis of reported alarms and events faster and more convenient.

Menu Driven Configuration and Control – Uses a standard Windows operating system tree structure for quick access to menus. Current configuration of multiple devices may be displayed simultaneously, reconfigured and controlled in real-time to optimize device functions.

Configuration Management – Helps users manage the configuration of their system more quickly and effectively. It allows configuration of individual devices; or the entire system configuration may be saved to a file, and then restored by the user when needed. Cattrax also supports automatic device configuration restoration.

Remote Access over VPN – Network parameters can be configured to allow use of Cattrax over a VPN link.

Automated Batch Firmware Update – Allows you to update software or firmware code on multiple PESA devices of the same type simultaneously.

Related Product: PERC3000

PESA’s server-based Ethernet Router Control, PERC3000, is a high-speed, high-capacity system controller for PESA routing and video distribution systems. The PERC3000 router control solution is a scalable hardware and software system  specifically designed for large routing installations with multiple high capacity router frames and large numbers of control panels that require maximum computing and processing power. Its modular design lets broadcasters and mission critical A/V technicians select just the level of control they need while taking advantage of enhanced processing power and speed over PESA’s popular PERC2000 controller.

Managed with PESA’s Cattrax software application installed on a host computer running Microsoft Windows OS. The system controller interfaces to the matrix frames is via an Ethernet connection to provide communications and diagnostics monitoring.

Cattrax Web communicates through an Ethernet interface directly with a PERC2000 or PERC3000 System Controller and performs in many respects as a PESA hardware remote control panel.

There are two major operational areas of the Cattrax Web application: administrative and real-time switching. Administration functions allow a user with administrative privileges to configure all aspects of application operation including users, router control and access, server functions and the creation of system operation and history logs. Real-time switching pages are available to all authorized users and provide status display and control functions for the router or partition of the router assigned to the individual user accessing the server.

Additional Features:
  • Auto-Detect of frames and modules in the managed network.
  • Display Frames and Cards in a tree structure that can be expanded to show modules in the frame.
  • Displays Frame and Card Details including general product information, operational status, alarms and configuration.
  • Virtual System Design facilitates design and configuration of system – prior to the availability of actual hardware – to speed up and lower the cost of system development.
  • Batch Configuration allows simultaneous configuration of multiple selected frames or processing modules.
  • Global Monitoring displays all alarms and status messages of the managed systems in a single list.
  • Save and Restore allows the user to save the configuration of each device in the system and load it on-demand to any device of the same type.
  • Auto-Restore automatically restores the configuration of a newly inserted card in the frame with the previously saved configuration.
  • Access Security provides user id and password protection to the system and its function.
