Overview

The High Definition Digital Video Routing Switchers handle a full range of digital video signals. From broadcast standards for SMPTE S259, S292, S424 and ITU-R Rec. 601 to traditional NTSC/PAL conversion using our exclusive easySFP modules; the Cheetah provides brilliant advantages for multi-format routing needs. Signal formats up to 1080p60 can be supported.

System Flexibility

By offering a flexible crosspoint architecture, Cheetah can support signals from 143Mb/s up to 3Gb/s and can support any broadcast standard including SDI, HD-SDI, DVB-ASI, 3G-SDI and 4K (Quad 3G-SDI) in either optical or copper formats. In addition, Cheetah can support fiber CWDM inputs and outputs with up to 16 HD-SDI channels over a single fiber cable. With optional MUX and DEMUX modules, the Cheetah video router can operate seamlessly with PESA’s DRS distributed audio system allowing up to 128 audio channels per card to be embedded or de-embedded within the Cheetah video frame.

The frames support the widest range of rectangular and square matrix sizes. The matrix card and I/O cards allow many different square and rectangular frames sizes making it a cost effective solution when future expansion is planned.

Highest Reliability

Input and Output modules support sixteen ports per card, thus limiting the number of signals that can be affected by a single module failure. The Cheetah system architecture has been designed to support mission critical applications. Support for redundant power and redundant control are key elements of the frame package allowing users to easily swap over to backup systems to eliminate operational downtime.

The Cheetah router includes a range of I/O cards that can support any broadcast standard including ASI, SD-SDI, HD-SDI, 3G-SDI, and 4K in either optical or copper formats. In addition, Cheetah can support fiber CWDM inputs and outputs with up to 16 HD-SDI channels over a single fiber cable.

Each frame features hot-swappable modules / cards for easy service and all modules employ the latest in digital technology for lower power consumption. All Cheetah routers incorporate redundant, load-sharing power supplies and feature a superior air flow design for even cooling across all critical components ensuring longer life and preventing board level failures.

The Cheetah router can be integrated with the DRS Audio System allowing users the flexibility to route embedded AES or discrete audio with any SDI/HD-SDI video stream. With the DRS compact audio router system and Cheetah MUX/DEMUX modules, users have the ability to reduce overall cost and power consumption. With DRS integrated audio modules, any audio input can be embedded to any video output.

Cattrax
Comprehensive Control Software

Cattrax is PESA’s Windows based system control software application that allows any PC on a facility network to become a full-featured controller and status monitor for all PESA processing products in the facility. In addition to its controller and monitoring features, the Cattrax “Virtual Design” capability allows designers and installation engineers to design an entire system without having the actual hardware, thus making installation much quicker and easier.

Programmable Control Panels

PESA’s Smart 32 is a push-button remote control panel for PESA routing installations featuring 32 programmable, multi-color LCD push-button switches, a status monitor display screen and full Ethernet network connectivity. The panel provides up to 16 pages of key configurations for a total panel capacity of 512 programmable push-buttons, each of which may be configured for virtually any data key or control key function.

PESA’s Touch 72 is a push-button remote control panel for PESA routing installations featuring 72 programmable, multi-color LCD push-button switches, a full color touch screen display and full Ethernet network connectivity. The panel provides up to 16 pages of key configurations for a total panel capacity of 1152 programmable push-buttons, each of which may be configured for virtually any data key or control key function.

Cheetah Matrix Sizes

CHEETAH 64NEX: 64x64

As part of PESA’s world-class routing switcher line, the Cheetah 64NE, a 64×64 3G-SDI routing switcher, provides a huge advantage over similar offerings on the market today. Starting with its small footprint, the 4RU frame can pack an enormous amount of features normally found in larger frame sizes. For instance, each frame supports internal redundant power and control, so no need to plan for extra rack space. The power efficient frame requires no more than 300 watts when fully loaded. The power supply, control card and matrix card are hot swappable and easily accessible from the front. Control and networking features are offered in a wide range of solutions, including Ethernet control, RS-232 and web-based control.

Input and output cards are available for fiber, coax, and CWDM applications and can be mixed in groups of 16 input or output channels. Signal formats supported include DVB/ASI, SD-SDI, HD-SDI, 3G-SDI, and serial data streams from 270Mbps up to 3Gbps. Additionally, signal formats for DVI, VGA, RGsB, RGBHV and YPbPr are handled with our external Vidblox transmitter and receiver modules. Other features include muxing and de-muxing cards supporting 16 HD-SDI channels over a single CWDM fiber cable and full integration of embedding and de-embedding of audio signals with 16 channel plug-in I/O card sets. With PESA’s easyPORT SFP modules fiber-cage input cards can be adapted for NTSC/PAL to SD-SDI and fiber-cage output cards can be adapted for SD-SDI to NTSC/PAL.

All inputs feature auto-equalization and auto-rate sensing. The digital output cards support reclocking on all outputs and can be set for bypass if reclocking is not required. DVB-ASI is fully supported on every path. Sync reference inputs accept analog black burst in NTSC or PAL formats as well as high definition Tri-level sync.

Cheetah 64XE: 64x128

In many applications there is a need to support more outputs than inputs. The 64XE Series was designed with the flexibility to support additional outputs. In just 6RU, this frame can be configured to support up to 64X128. Frames can start with one matrix card installed to support up to 64X64 and then expanded to 64X128 with a second matrix card installed. The 64XE frame is perfect for applications where signals need to be linked to a multi-viewer or multiple destinations simultaneously. Customized output configurations can be setup easily using PESA’s PERC2000 or PERC3000 System Controllers and the Cattrax control software. Additionally, the 64XE supports both fiber and coax IO offering extreme flexibility in cable management. Fiber sources can be connected directly to each frame, thus eliminating the need for fiber-to-copper conversion gear. All cards are hot-swappable with the matrix card, power supplies, and matrix control systems easily removed from the front of the chassis.

Cheetah 128NE: 128x128

For mid-range multi-format routing switcher systems, PESA’s Cheetah 128NE offers support for 3G-SDI, HD-SDI, SD-SDI, ASI, embedded audio and CWDM signals. Inside the 7 RU frame a single 128×128 crosspoint matrix supports I/O expansion in groups of 16. Each frame includes slots for redundant control, redundant power and easy access to hot-swap components for mission critical system architecture requirements.

The 128NE frame I/O card options allow incredible flexibility by allowing systems to be designed around the widest range of connector and signal types. Input and Output cards are available for coax and fiber with options to include CWDM fiber supporting up to 16 HD-SDI channels over one fiber optic cable or embedding/de-embedding up to 16 channels per video port.

Cheetah 128XE: 128x256

The Cheetah 128XE Digital Video Router is the latest development in 3G-SDI technology for formats up to 1080p/60 and 3D Stereoscopic transports. Based on field proven Cheetah technology, the 128XE adds the latest in high definition technology with exceptional package density. To support the needs of additional outputs, this frame can be configured with twice as many outputs making it an attractive solution for mobile applications using extensive monitoring. Each frame supports two 128X128 matrix cards allowing basic square matrixes of 128X128 and up to 128X256 using two matrix cards.

Cheetah 144NE: 144x144

PESA’s Cheetah 144NE Fiber Router System is a high performance, modular fiber optic switch system for either ProAV or Broadcast HD-SDI and 3G-SDI applications. Cheetah 144NE Fiber is expandable in sizes from 36×36 up to 144×144 in the same 4RU frame. It is fully compatible with the new Vidblox Series of fiber media extenders for DVI, HD-SDI, and 3G-SDI. The frame supports redundant power, control, and a hot-swappable 144×144 Crosspoint matrix. I/O cards allow easy expansion in groups of 36 inputs or 36 outputs per card which simplifies future expansion without the need to replace cards or frames. The frame system is based on the field proven Cheetah line of routers and maintains the same high reliability always found in the PESA brand. The system’s integrated Matrix Frame Controller monitors the health of the unit and automatically recognizes any new I/O cards.

Taking advantage of a small 4RU footprint, the Cheetah 144NE Fiber Router can be configured as a partially loaded frame allowing for easy future field expansion. Start out with a 36×36 system and build up to a full 144×144 without changing the frame or internal hardware.

Reduce system bottlenecks with integrated easySFP modules.
The Cheetah 144NE frame is a modular design featuring eight input card slots and eight output card slots (I/O). Each I/O card includes small form-factor pluggable (SFP) cages supporting up to 36 signals on each card. Once the cards are installed, systems can be configured with a variety of optional SFP modules supporting fiber optic connections, mini-HD BNC connections, NSTC/PAL to SDI, or SDI to NTSC/PAL. The easySFP fiber modules are based on 1310nm singlemode lasers but can be used in multimode applications with reduced performance specifications. Singlemode fiber allows signal transports up to 10Km while multimode is limited to approximately 600m with 50/125 cables.  In mixed cabling designs where fiber and coax are needed, then mini-HD BNC modules can be inserted in place of the fiber modules. Each mini-HD BNC easySFP allows two port per modules supporting SD-SDI, HD-SDI, and 3G-SDI. The I/O card flexibility keeps pace with maintaining legacy hardware alongside the latest digital technology with the easySFP NTSC/PAL to SDI modules. For instance, one input card could be configured to support Fiber, BNC, and NTSC/PAL in any combination of 36 channels.

Cheetah 1152XR: 1152x1152

The 1152XR High Definition Digital Video Routing Switcher handles a full range of digital video signals. From broadcast standards for SMPTE S259, S292, S424 and ITU-R Rec. 601 to traditional NTSC/PAL conversion using our exclusive easySFP modules; the Cheetah 1152XR provides brilliant advantages for multi-format routing needs. Signal formats up to 1080p60 are supported.

The 1152XR provides for the widest range of rectangular and square matrix sizes. Each 41RU frame is populated with 288×288 matrix cards allowing I/O sizes up to 1152×1152. Input and Output cards are based on 16 ports per blade. The matrix card and I/O card granularity allows many different square and rectangular frames sizes making it a cost effective solution when future expansion is planned.

Optional features include redundant power and control. Frames can be configured using I/O cards supporting fiber, coax, both fiber and coax, or embedder/de-embedder cards to operate seamlessly with our distributed audio switch fabric. Analog conversion for NTSC/PAL can be accomplished using the easySFP module option.

The 1152XR supports many 3rd party control protocols as well as the full featured PESA control system offered with the PERC2000 and PERC3000 System Control Software.
