Leadership
Lieutenant General John “Mark” Curran, USA (Ret) is the current Chairman of PESA Inc.  Mark Curran was the Vice President of Army Programs at L3 Technologies for over 11 years.  Prior to working for L3, he served for over 33 years in the U.S. Army retiring as the Deputy Commanding General, Futures/Director, Futures Center, United States Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Fort Monroe, Virginia. In this position, assumed in 2003, he was responsible to the Commanding General, TRADOC, for the design, development, and integration, into a joint warfighting environment, from concept to capability, all aspects of the future force. Prior to his assignment to the Futures Center, LTG Curran served as the Commanding General United States Army Aviation Center and Fort Rucker, Fort Rucker, AL.  Among other assignments and promotions, he was also the Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations, Regional Command South, Allied Forces Southern Europe, Italy.
LTG Curran’s military awards and decorations include the  Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit (two Oak Leaf Clusters), Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (three Oak Leaf Clusters), Two Air Medals, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, NATO Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medals from the governments of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, Master Army Aviator Bade, and Air Assault Badge.
A native of West Palm Beach, Florida, he is a 1974 Distinguished Military Graduate of Florida Southern College where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science. He holds a Masters in Military Art and Science from the Army School of Advanced Military Studies. He is a graduate of the Joint Warfighters Course (’01), Capstone Course (’98), National War College (’93), Air Assault School (’86), School of Advanced Military Studies (’86), Command and General Staff College (’85), and the Armor Officer Advanced (’81) and Basic Courses (’74).
Brian Thrasher is the President & COO at PESA. Brian has decades of career experience in Contract Manufacturing and Operations Management and extensive experience in Manufacturing, Operations, Programs, MFG Engineering, Materials and Planning, Quality, Sales, and Management.Brian was the Vice President of Operations for the Defense and Aerospace Division for SCI where he managed all defense and Aerospace Manufacturing Operations, which included MFG Engineering, MFG Test Engineering, Quality, Materials, and Programs for the Defense and Aerospace division. He was also the Vice President of Operations for the Medical Systems Division at SCI where he oversaw complete operations and P&L responsibilities for three global plants in Ireland, Sweden, and the United States. Brian earned a B.S. in Business Administration, Industrial and Operations Management from Auburn University.
Howard's career spans four decades of working, leading, and investing in technology companies.Starting at IBM in support of brokerage and banking systems, he saw the emerging opportunity to apply engineering skill sets to investment portfolio management. Following two years at a multibillion-dollar investment council firm, Howard started his own Portfolio Management company in 1996 focused on technology and biotechnology. Funds under his management approached $500 million within three years with top returns. At that time, his presence was often seen on National Business TV shows. He has been a member of the Board of Directors for PESA since 2005. Howard holds an Engineering degree from Queen’s University and an M.B.A degree from the University of Toronto. He is a Professional Engineer and Certified Financial Analyst.
Scott Barella is the Chief Technology Officer at PESA. Scott has a long history of audio and video distribution and has been on the cutting edge of AV over IP, helping develop the standards for more than 25 years.Scott was the AIMS co-chair Pro A/V Group, past board member and deputy chair of Technical Work Group. He was also a voting participant 32NF60 Technical Work Group of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) and a former vice chair of Technical Work Group for the Alliance for IP Media Solutions. Scott has a B.A. degree from the University of Wyoming.
Greg has a demonstrated and recognized record of leading high-performance teams over the last 30 years across sales, operations, partner, and technical responsibilities in some of the largest and most complex organizations and markets in the world. His work has spanned software, hardware, and integrated services running global teams as well as leading startups and working with investment firms in the technology space.In the public sector space, Greg most recently served for 13 years as the Vice President of Federal for Microsoft Corporation. His responsibilities included revenue accountability for the entire multibillion dollar operating unit which was one of the largest in the US. During his tenure, Greg was integral to Microsoft’s move to the cloud and worked closely with key stakeholders across Civilian, Defense, Healthcare, and Intelligence markets. Greg also served in Vice President roles at Oracle Corporation, BearingPoint, and Approval with similar responsibilities.
Most recently, Greg serves as an Operating Partner for Cota Capital (a multi-stage investment firm focused on innovative and disruptive enterprise technology providers), serves on several boards, and advises several large and small companies in the industry. Greg graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Maryland and currently lives in Maryland with his wife Carol and their three children, Amanda, Michael, and Brian.
