PESA SECURA Training Programs

PESA is offering training programs for various levels of Secura users and administrators. Hands-on, classroom training sessions will be held at PESA’s Huntsville, Alabama, Training Facility. Training programs, and the curriculum included with each, are identified below. Note that some of the programs require attendees to have prerequisite work experience and a minimum of certificate level coursework completion with both the Linux Operating System (OS) and IP Networking. Prerequisites, if required, for each program are identified in the following training summaries.  

1. End User Training

Utilizing the Secura Apps, End User Training familiarizes participants with day-to-day use of Secura, as well as configuration, monitoring and control of the system from the applications. Configuration capabilities discussed in these sessions are limited to capabilities accessible using the Secura application only.

End User Training is a three (3) day, hands-on, course held at PESA’s Huntsville, Alabama, Training Facility. There are no prerequisites required to attend these training sessions.

The following instructional modules are presented during the training program:

System Overview & Architecture

  • Introduction to system components, functionality, and overall architecture
  • User Management & Access Control
    • Creating and managing local users, and integrating with Active Directory (AD)
    • Implementing tags and filters to control access to resources within the system
  • Practical Application & Assessment
    • Hands-on lab work for skill reinforcement and mastery
    • 1:1 practical exams testing full system installation, configuration, and functionality

2. Installation Training

Designed for Integrators and Partners, this comprehensive course equips participants with skills necessary for the complete installation, configuration, and management of the Secura Control System.

Installation Training will be a comprehensive five (5) day, hands-on, classroom course, available beginning in April 2025 with the introduction of Secura Version 5.3, which will equip participants with the skills necessary for the complete installation, configuration, and management of the Secura control system. Through lectures, hands-on labs, and practical demonstrations, participants will learn how to set up hardware, configure software, and manage users.

Operation of the Secura Control System requires that each system operator have working knowledge and experience with administration of the Linux Operating System, Docker, basic IT Troubleshooting, Enterprise Network configuration expertise, and the capability to problem solve when issues arise.

To assure all class attendees possess these needed skills, PESA requires that prerequisite training, at a minimum of certificate level, must be completed by each participant prior to attending the Installation Training sessions. Required prerequisites are identified in Section B, following the Course Outline.

Course Outline

Secura Installation Training consists of lectures, hands-on labs, and practical demonstrations. The following instructional modules are presented during the program:

  • System Overview & Architecture
    • Introduction to system components, functionality, and overall architecture
  • Software Installation & Configuration
    • Installing control software and licensing the control server
    • Configuring system settings, including adding Receivers, Transmitters, and building workstations
  • User Management & Access Control
    • Creating and managing local users, and integrating with Active Directory (AD)
    • Implementing tags and filters to control access to resources within the system
  • Hardware Setup & Network Configuration
    • Physical installation of standalone units and chassis mounting
    • Using maintenance tools for IP configuration and setting up network interfaces
    • Basic hardware troubleshooting and verification
  • Practical Application & Assessment
    • Hands-on lab work for skill reinforcement and mastery
    • 1:1 practical exams testing full system installation, configuration, and functionality

Required Prerequisites

Any applicant for participation in the comprehensive Installation Training program must have both work experience, along with completion of certificate level (minimum) Linux OS and IP Network coursework prior to being accepted into this training program.

If needed, prerequisite training is available from various on-line sources, including those listed below. The website links beneath each prerequisite topic link to an organization offering Linux OS or Network Configuration training and certification programs which satisfy PESA’s requirements for participation in Secura training.

Other Installation and Setup Options

For many traditional AV firms, the prerequisite requirements identified above may be a new skill set.  As such, PESA will offer, thru subcontracting, the opportunity to utilize PESA resources to perform the installation and setup of Secura systems. Installation and setup of Secura Version 5.2 systems, prior to April 2025, must, by default, be performed through subcontracting of PESA resources. Please discuss this further with PESA Services.

3. Daily Support for IT Group or Outsourced Service Provider

This program prepares company-internal IP Support groups, or an Outsourced IT Service provider, with the knowledge and skills required for day-to-day tasks of supporting the Secura IT Infrastructure. Daily Support for IT Group or Outsourced Service Provider Training is a four (4) day, hands-on, course held at PESA’s Huntsville, Alabama, Training Facility. There are no prerequisites required to attend these training sessions.The following instructional modules are presented during the training program:

4. System Architecture Design

The Secura System Architecture Design program trains partner system architects to design Secura Solutions. Training is held at PESA’s Huntsville, Alabama, Training Facility.To assure all class attendees possess the needed IP networking skills, PESA requires completion of prerequisite certificate level (minimum) IP Network training* by each participant prior to attending the System Architecture Design training.The following instructional modules are presented during the training program:

  • System Overview & Architecture

  • Hardware Setup & Network Configuration
    • Physical installation of standalone units and chassis mounting
    • Using maintenance tools for IP configuration and setting up network interfaces
